Funding
The Australian Government provides various forms of funding to assist with the purchase of health and wellbeing services. Each holds its own eligibility criteria and funding allocations. Funding assistance is open to all Australian citizens who meet the eligibility criteria.
For Think Psychologists there are two primary sources of Government Funding. The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and the Mental Health Treatment Plan. Both of these funding sources have scheduled rates for specific services. These generally alter each financial year and we encourage you to visit the relevant websites to familiarize yourself with these fees.
NDIS
The National Disability Insurance Scheme plan generally runs for 12 months, unless there is a significant change that requires a review of supports earlier. Funding for Think Psychologists services may be utilized from the Capacity Building budget – Daily Activity subsection. We are only able to accept payment from funds that are self-managed or plan managed. Please consult with your support coordinator who can assist you in managing your funding allocation.
Mental Health Treatment Plan
Previously known as a Mental Health Care Treatment Plan
If you have a Mental Health Treatment Plan, you will be entitled to Medicare rebates for up to 10 individual psychological appointments and 10 group counselling sessions per calendar year . This gives you access — subsidised by Medicare — to certain psychologists, occupational therapists and social workers.
You can’t get Medicare rebates for all the sessions in one go. After your first 6 appointments, you need to see your doctor again for a mental health plan review. They can then decide if you need a referral for further sessions.
We are NOT a bulk billing clinic – There is an out-of-pocket expense per consultation
Please note: if you have provided the clinic with a current GP Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) then you will be entitled to claim a rebate from Medicare. Please note the full amount must be received first by our clinic and then the claim will be processed – note a MHTP has limitations and these should be discussed with your GP. The mental health care plan does not apply to the initial appointment. Please note: Rebates are not available from Medicare for any assessment. Please contact your own private health fund to determine if a rebate is applicable.
A 50% deposit is required at the time of registrating an assessment or an initial consultation.
